Make a difference to people’s lives every day

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our work here at Alabaré – we couldn’t do it without you

Volunteer for Alabaré

We are so grateful for the wonderful volunteers who dedicate their time to help support the homeless adults, young people, veterans and people with learning disabilities in our care.

If you have some time free and would like to join a team where we truly value you, then please do get in touch for a chat about how we can team up!

Perhaps you could help at one of our houses where we care for the homeless or look after adults with learning disabilities. Or maybe you could teach others how to cook nutritious food, paint or teach crafts?  Or perhaps you are a keen gardener, in which case a few hours tending to flower beds and lawns can make all the difference! And if you have a specific skill such as hairdressing or chiropody and some time to gift to our clients we would love to hear from you.

Please do give us a call.

How will you support me?

Volunteers work alongside our staff teams to add extra value to the lives of those we support by sharing their time, skills and experiences. In return, volunteers can take advantage of the training courses we run and gain new skills. By joining our volunteering team, you will enhance our clients’ lives and enrich your own while making new friends.

Locations

North and South Wales, Bristol, Gloucester, Bideford, Weston-Super-Mare, Devizes, Trowbridge, Amesbury, Chippenham, Salisbury, Andover, Plymouth, and Gosport are some of the locations we have opportunities available.

Charity Shops

Our Wilton, Amesbury and Salisbury shops are a great way to meet the local community. Help us with the many donations of goods we receive and manage our stock and sales alongside our busy teams.

Chaplaincy

We believe meeting the spiritual needs of our clients is incredibly important. Could you be one of our amazing team of volunteer chaplains providing your time and your talents and sharing, when invited to, some of your faith in Christ?

Fundraising & events

If you are seeking an occasional role, why not volunteer alongside our events team?  Perhaps you could play a pivotal role at events, assist with leaflet door drops or help with office administration.

Ambassadors

Our regional network of Ambassadors represent the charity in their community or workplace, put on fundraising events and help our team with promotional events and networking.

Boots on the Ground, Buddy to Buddy

If you are a veteran you can share time with other veterans providing peer to peer support while taking part in activities that assist with their wellbeing and personal development.

Development Centres

Are you interested in gardening, cooking, woodwork or crafting and have the skills to teach or help? General maintenance and assistance is always needed as well.

We can accommodate up to 30 people daily and offer them worthwhile activities to complete in our Development Centres or charity shops in Wiltshire. We ask for a donation towards the materials which may be used in any DIY projects we would like you to complete, and we will give you tea and homemade cakes in return!

As our commitment to you, we will:
  • Always make sure you are supported by a member of staff
  • Provide you with everything you need to carry out your role
  • Provide opportunities for you to support us in different ways

Alternatively, consider becoming a Corporate Partner with us, learn more here.

Help us do more

Alabaré was founded out of the simple act of providing a place of shelter and safety to help one homeless man, Bob. Today, it remains our goal to help people who are vulnerable build bright futures, homes and minds for themselves.
