Homes for homeless and vulnerable people

Homelessness can affect anyone – relationship breakdown, loss of employment, and ill health are all common reasons, but there are many others.

Being homeless does not always mean sleeping rough. There are many types of homelessness; it could mean sleeping in temporary accommodation, sleeping in cars or tents or moving between friends and ‘sofa surfing’.

The road to safety and independence starts with a single call. If you’re homeless or worried about losing your home and becoming homeless, it is vital you seek support as soon as you can.

Services for homeless

At Alabaré, we support hundreds of people who are homeless every year. We help each person with their finances, health and self-esteem and provide a stepping-stone approach back to independent living.

Referrals to our Alabaré homes must be made through the local authority; details are in the Housing Options at the bottom of this page. Our drug and alcohol service in Weston-Super-Mare takes referrals from other agencies and also self-referrals.

Accommodation and support

In every home you would have your own room with communal kitchens and living rooms. It will not take long before it is looking homely and it feels like yours.

We will provide you with a key worker from our team and together you will agree on an action plan based on your needs and goals. We can also help you access support and services from other agencies if needed. We will help you look at your options for future housing and support you to find a suitable new home when you are ready to move on from us.

There is a range of training and activities available to you, including art, music, cooking and health. Our chaplaincy service is also available to you if you wish to explore your spiritual wellbeing. We also provide you with our Tenancy Training programme which helps you build the skills, confidence and knowledge you will need to successfully manage your future.

Drop-in services

At Alabaré Place in Salisbury, and Unity House in Chippenham, we offer a drop-in facility for people who are sleeping rough or who are in temporary accommodation. Visitors can get a shower, wash clothes, have a meal or food to take away, and seek financial/housing advice and support. More details are on our map above.
