Alabaré Social Enterprises

We are excited that our social enterprise projects Boots on the Ground and Field Kitchen have begun again in earnest following the lifting of restrictions in Wales.

Both projects, Boots on the Ground and Field Kitchen are designed to support the mental health of the Veterans within Alabaré Homes for Veterans, or others connected with Alabaré within local communities. Servicemen and women can struggle with several conditions that put them at an increased risk of homelessness such as depression, PTSD, ill health, unemployment, family or relationship breakdown when leaving the services which mean they may struggle to adapt to civilian life.

As a charity, we are committed to providing ways to support our Veteran service users. These projects enable us to provide meaningful activity while at the same time improving mental health and wellbeing. Both projects are currently running across North and South Wales and we have plans to expand both across the South West of England as demand grows.

Many Veterans have experienced sleeping rough, been in volatile housing or lived in temporary accommodation. They may have experienced poverty, poor health, mental health issues such as PTSD, have struggled with substance misuse, gambling, debt, domestic abuse, unemployment, or crime. Sadly many may have lost touch with their families and friends and may have complex lives with few support structures. Alabaré provides the help they need through Homes for Veterans.
