Kelly's Story
Kelly was pregnant when she came to live at our Parent and Baby service. She had previously been living with her partner but after their relationship broke down, she was faced with the prospect of becoming homeless. Kelly continued to live with her partner initially as he did not want to see her out on the streets whilst she was expecting, but this was never going to be a long-term solution.
After the birth of her daughter, initially she was placed with a foster placement for assessment. After passing this, Kelly returned to our services where she was able to get the wealth of support she needed for both herself and her new-born daughter.
As well as being offered practical support around housing applications and tenancy agreements, Kelly has learned a number of life skills around budgeting and cooking to prepare her for independent living once more. Kelly is completely focussed on giving her daughter the best possible start in life. She takes her to parent and baby class once a week and is shortly set to begin the process of moving on from our services to her own place. All of the staff at our Parent and Baby project are incredibly proud of how well Kelly has done and the amazing progress she has made in looking after her daughter!
“I’m really grateful for Alabaré and I would definitely recommend anyone in need of support to get in touch with them.”
