World Mental Health Day At Riverside Sanctuary
This week at Alabaré we have been marking the run up to World Mental Health Day (Saturday 10th October) with a series of thoughts and reflection from our incredible team at Riverside Sanctuary. The team have been offering a time each day this week for colleagues and those connected with Alabaré to come and share a moment of calm out of the busy day, to talk and share some tea and cake.
Breaking down the stigma of mental health is a key aim of the service, which was set up in March this year, and which offers a confidential telephone service and place of calm for those struggling with their mental wellbeing. The team have provided invaluable support to clients since they launched the phone line, and have seen the impact that lockdown and anxiety associated with Covid-19 have had for many people.
Yesterday (Friday 9th October) Salisbury MP John Glen has visited the service to mark its official opening and to see and hear how it is supporting those in need. He said;
“It was a great privilege to mark the formal opening of Alabaré’s Riverside Sanctuary. Some fantastic facilities have been put in place to assist vulnerable individuals with mental health challenges. I applaud the professionalism and dedication of the team that are delivering these services in very challenging circumstances.”
