Wales Homes For Veterans Needs Volunteers
Our first Wales Home for Veterans is due to open in Pontypridd later this year, and we need your help. We are looking for volunteers to support us with our fundraising events and to help us spread the word about our work with Veterans.
It is estimated that there are around 220,000 veterans in Wales and our Wales Homes for Veterans project has been planned in direct response to demand from the Armed Forces Community in Wales and the organisations that support them. The creation of these new homes was made possible thanks to the £976,269 that Wales Homes for Veterans was awarded by the Armed Forces Covenant (Libor) fund in November 2013. One of the more obvious perks of volunteering for a charity is the sense of satisfaction you feel knowing you’ve made a difference. Bob, has volunteered with us for many years, and explained what volunteering means to him; “To me volunteering is about using the gifts you have within you to bring help to those who need it”. Other benefits of volunteering could be: keeping your CV up-to-date in between jobs, or perhaps you’re interested in moving into a different field of work but don’t have the experience to move forward just yet. Perhaps you’ve retired but would love to share your experience with others in aid of a good cause. There are so many reasons to get involved!
If you think you could help please get in touch. Lee Kendrick is our Corporate and Community Fundraiser for Wales and he’d love to hear from you. To find out more, please call him on: 07525 594115 or email him via: firstname.lastname@example.org.
