On April 27th the Topping Out ceremony took place at the Wilton Hill Veterans Village. MP for Salisbury John Glen laid the final tile on the roof, less than a year after ground was broke.

The development will provide accommodation for up to 44 veterans who are either homeless or face the prospect becoming so. As well as accommodation, the project will also provide training, employment and enterprise opportunities.

MP John Glen said;

"Alabaré have been fantastic for Our Wilton and they do so much in the community in Salisbury and South Wiltshire. I am very proud to have them as such a key partner here"

Working alongside developers Our Wilton Trust, the project will be the UK's first dedicated veterans village. The initiative will support over 300 veterans in ten years, each of whom will be recovering from challenges such as mental ill-health, debt issues, substance addiction and relationship breakdown.

The personalised support available to them at Wilton Hill will include access to employment opportunities on an adjoining enterprise unit as well as a planned company sponsorship programme and an apprenticeship scheme.
