The Soldiers' Charity Support For 'Field Kitchen'
Thanks to the support of The Soldiers' Charity, we have been awarded a grant of £10,000 to help fund our 'Field Kitchen' social enterprise which will help Veterans into employment.
Our Field Kitchen social enterprise scheme will employ Veterans to prepare, cook and serve food, as well as providing them with training in catering and customer care skills.
Tom Barnham, Social Enterprise Manager at Alabaré Homes for Veterans Cymru, said:
“Field Kitchen will launch in December 2019 as an innovative social enterprise, working to support veterans into work and training through street food. We want to help support our veterans into independent living, and employment and training, through giving them first-hand experience of cooking and serving high quality street food. Field Kitchen will also be a great way to get our veterans’ stories told, and to promote the work that Alabaré does.”
Kirsty Scullion, Partnership and Income Generation Manager at Alabaré, added:
“The opportunity The Soldiers’ Charity has afforded us to really develop our Social Enterprise model is exciting. The Field Kitchen is the first opportunity to deliver our business ideas. It will create training and employment for veterans in a safe, empathetic environment and awareness of the needs of many ex-Armed Forces personnel as their leave active service. It will generate much needed funds to continue to deliver our Homes for Veterans across England and Wales. Alabaré plans to develop many newsocial business initiatives with which we hope to create positive social impact in our military, and wider, communities.”
Brigadier (Ret’d) Robin Bacon, Chief of Staff at ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, added:
“Training and employment are just two of our main streams of work. We are proud to be supporting Alabaré and its efforts to help veterans re-enter the workplace and live an independent life.”
