Thank You To Our Offa's Dyke Challengers
At Alabaré we often find ourselves supported by the most generous people, offering to do sometimes incredible challenges and by doing so offering to raise money on our behalf. Fundraising this year has been incredibly challenging in itself so when opportunities like these come up they are especially welcome. So, we would like to say a huge thank you to Charles Malet, Tom Hall and Alex Cooper for raising over £60,000 to date for our Homes for Veterans services, by taking on the Offa’s Dyke Challenge 2020 earlier this year.
At the beginning of September, they successfully ran all 177 miles North to South along the historic English Welsh border trail, across gruelling and often extreme terrain, with Charles completing within 81 hours. We are most grateful for the time and commitment they have all given, not only to the run itself but also to fundraising and helping to raise awareness of the work that Alabaré does to support homeless Veterans.
This was simply an extraordinary feat of endurance which they completed with tenacity, good humour and unending dedication despite the pain, injury and extreme exhaustion they faced. The incredible monies raised are a testament to their determination and compassion.
Our Patron, General The Lord Dannatt GCB, CBE, MC, DL expresses on behalf of all of us at Alabare our heartfelt thanks to Charles, Alex and Tom for their unwavering support.
