Thank You To Our Incredible Teams

Coronavirus is a severe threat to homeless and vulnerable people in our communities, with 75% of our residents having existing underlying health conditions. Alabaré’s amazing front line staff have been working tirelessly to ensure the vulnerable people who rely on us are able to continue to access the vital support they need at this time. From changing the way we operate our dop-in facilities to putting in place provisions so residents can self-isolate, our teams are doing an incredible job in adapting to these testing times.

Right now, our teams are supporting around 500 homeless and vulnerable people in need.

Andrew Lord, Chief Executive of Alabaré says,

“Alabaré’s front line staff have been working around the clock throughout this incredibly difficult time to provide vital support to the most vulnerable people in our communities. Our teams are adapting every day to new situations, all the time making sure clients and residents get the care they need.  Right now Alabaré are providing emergency and self-isolation support, supported accommodation as well as outreach support in our local communities.  We are  providing telephone support to clients who would normally attend our Development Centres, and our new mental health outreach service, Alabaré Riverside Sanctuary opened yesterday, providing additional help to people who are struggling to cope in this difficult times.  I am so proud of every member of our teams for the life-saving work they are doing.  Our charity’s values resonate now even more than ever; care, compassion, generosity and respect.”

Sue oversees our services for homeless people, our Drop In Centres and supported accommodation,

“We have been extremely busy here at Alabaré.  We are supporting a number of people who are ill as well ensuring other residents are able to self-isolate. This is vital in order to protect others who are in danger of getting the virus. We are making sure all our residents also have the food and medicine they need.

We are constantly having to adapt as team members go off sick or into self-isolation – we are juggling every day, making sure we have protective equipment for our teams, food for our residents, its non-stop.  Our staff have been more than fantastic, providing cover for colleagues, and stepping up to help our clients in every way they can.  They are an inspiration in these tough times!”

“Our team is working around the clock to ensure all our clients are supported and have the support they need. Many of Alabaré’s clients suffer from mental challenges and are extremely anxious about Coronavirus. It’s really important we are there to help everyone through this worrying time.”

We urgently need your help for our teams continue to provide life-saving support to homeless and vulnerable people.

Coronavirus is already putting huge strains on Alabaré financially. Our charity's services are facing unprecedented challenges and are putting emergency procedures in to place. We are facing an immediate loss of at least £100,000 at a time when we desperately need that money to help save lives.

Please donate to our emergency appeal today and help save lives.
