Alabaré are delighted to announce that they have received funding support from Seafarers UK, the leading charity supporting the maritime community. The £20,000 grant will go towards providing support to vulnerable and homeless veterans living in the charity’s specialist Homes for Veterans.

Alabaré currently run Homes for Veterans in Plymouth, Weymouth, Salisbury, Gosport, Fareham, Bristol, Gloucester, Pontypridd, Cardiff and Carmarthen.  In total 100+ bed-spaces are available to ex-military who have become homeless or at severe risk of becoming homeless.

Seafarers UK’s Campaigns Manager Nick Harvey said:

‘Our trustees were delighted to award this grant to Alabaré that, during the past six years, have supported 300 veterans, of which 17% are ex-navy. This funding will enable the charity to continue their support in this sector of the homeless population.’

Alabaré aims to support 140 veterans including former naval personnel in the next 12 months.

Alabaré’s homes provide a safe environment which the veterans can rebuild confidence and focus on their future. With help from Alabaré’s trained support staff the residents can address any underlying issues that have contributed to them becoming homeless, such as financial debt, addiction, mental health problems or relationship breakdowns.
