Alabaré's Plymouth Homes for Veterans help to keep ex-ervice men and women like Brian off the streets:

“I thought homelessness was something that happened to other people, that they’d brought it on themselves. I never dreamt it could happen to me. I left the Army, had a job and moved back to look after my elderly mother. When she needed more care and I couldn’t cope, she had to move into a home. I was devastated when she died. I started drinking, I lost my job - it all spiralled out of control. The council sold the house to pay for care home fees and I was on the street.”

At Alabaré our specialist support staff and volunteers work with young people, Service Veterans and others who are in crisis. We give them a roof over their head, a bed to sleep in, a room they can call their own and the essentials they need to take the fi rst step on their journey to recovery. We help them manage their money, gain skills and qualifi cations, find work, and move on to somewhere they can properly call home.
