New Home For Veterans Opens In Time For Christmas

Our latest Wiltshire Homes for Veterans, opened on the 12th December in Salisbury. The expansion has come thanks to a grant of £33,075 from the Wiltshire Armed Forces Covenant. The charity is incredibly grateful to the Wiltshire Armed Forces Covenant for providing them with the means to create a quality and comfortable home environment which is so important for Veterans to transition back to independent living.

Michael Hibberd, our Care & Support Manager for Veterans described the particular need for these homes during this time of year;

“We’re really pleased that we’ve been able to open before Christmas. Being homeless is hard all year round, but it can be even worse at this time of year. With Christmas reminders everywhere you look, thoughts inevitably drift to the loved ones that won’t be around to share the time with and although we enjoyed a mild autumn, the weather has turned sharply and we’re set for a very cold winter. We want to ensure that we support as many homeless Veterans as we can in the years to come, and want to thank Wiltshire Armed Forces Covenant for helping us do that.”
