Nerve Agent Poisonings One Year On

March 4th marks the first anniversary since the Nerve Agent Poisonings that took place in Salisbury. Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia came in to contact with the agent on March 4th 2018, whilst later that year Dawn Sturgess tragically died after she came in to contact with the Novichok.

Alabaré's involvement in the tragic set of circumstances came when we re-housed 10 residents from John Baker House (a hostel for homeless people run by Sanctuary Supported Living) following the evacuation of the residence.

Following the request for emergency accommodation for those living at John Baker House, our teams at Alabaré worked tirelessly to prepare beds for evacuees, including setting up an entirely new home in less than a day.

Sue Gumbleton, Operations Manager for Alabaré’s Homeless services said;

“We would like to thank our staff and volunteers for their can-do attitude and the local businesses who stepped in to help us.  Whilst the circumstances in which we were forced to operate were tragic, on reflection we are glad that we were able to assist the John Baker House residents in being successfully rehomed.”
