Liam's London Marathon success
Last weekend, while the rest of us were basking in the warmest weekend of the year so far, Liam Richards, Support Worker at our Towpath House in Trowbridge, was taking on on a monumental challenge for Alabaré – the London Marathon!
With competition for places incredibly high, Alabaré only gets allocated a place in the UK run every 5 years. Liam volunteered instantly and began an exhausting training regime.
Still it was all worth while, when on the 21st he crossed the line in 4 hours and 21 minutes. After the race Liam said, “The marathon was amazing, I enjoyed every minute of it. The weather was fabulous, I even got a bit sunburnt, and there was a real carnival atmosphere all the way around the course. I took it steady, as it was my first marathon, and I was really pleased with my final time. Running the event on behalf of Alabaré was a real pleasure. A big thank you to everyone who has supported me”.
Liam's run has already raised over £1,000 which will help fund initiatives and equipment to allow Alabaré residents to take part in sports activities which help boost self-esteem and well-being.
