Congratulations to our founder John Proctor for receiving  the High Sheriff’s Commendation for his many years of outstanding voluntary service to the community! The High Sheriff, William Wyldbore-Smith, had this to say of the award;

“Under John’s energetic leadership over the last 23 years the charity, with its centre in Salisbury, has grown to provide care and support to over 3600 people per year in 16 towns and cities in the South West. Recent successes in attracting government grants for Wales underpin the current aspiration to expand Alabaré’s core values of care, compassion, generosity and respect still further and become a national organisation.

John is a keen and frequent visitor to all the homes. With his patience and listening skills, he gains a real understanding of the problems that those using the services face. His interest, support, advice and encouragement make an immense difference.

This award recognises John Proctor’s outstanding voluntary service to the community which has been much beyond that which might be expected. This has resulted in a change for the better for those who have passed through Alabaré’s welcoming doors and thereby benefited from the dedicated and professional staff therein.”

I commend John Proctor for his dedication which is an example to all.”

We are so proud of John and are delighted that his hard work has been recognised in this way. Please click here to find out more about how he started the charity.
