How We Are Supporting Rough Sleepers This Winter

Homelessness is an emergency whatever the weather but in winter and freezing conditions, people are in even greater danger. More than one homeless person dies every day in the UK*, and we’re determined to change that.

Alabaré’s teams are working hard to provide shelter and support to over 337 homeless adults through our 55 homes, Drop In Centres and crisis support services.

We need your help to make sure that our services are open and ready to help, not just now, but for the foreseeable future. Please donate £20 today. Your donation can welcome a rough sleeper off the streets, and will help provide them with clean clothing, a hot meal, a bed for the night as well as support in finding long term accommodation.

Here’s how Alabaré are helping rough sleepers this Winter:

1. Drop In Centres

Alabaré’s Drop In Centres provide rough sleepers with a warm, safe place of shelter. They can get freshly prepared hot meals and drinks, access to warm showers, new clothing, toiletries and sleeping bags, as well as laundry and washing facilities.

Our teams also provide rough sleepers with advice and support and start the process of helping them find permanent support and accommodation.

Nicki manages our Salisbury Drop In Centre; “Sleeping rough in winter can be extremely dangerous. Alabaré’s Drop In Centres are here to help those in need access shelter and help as quickly as possible. Having somewhere that provides hot meals, clean dry clothes and advice makes a massive difference to the vulnerable I meet every day.”
