Homeless & Barefoot - Gloucester City Marathon

Homeless & Barefoot - Gloucester City Marathon

Charles Malet, one of our Gloucestershire ambassadors has undertaken the epic feat of running the Gloucester City Marathon in aid of our Homes for Veterans, 'Barefoot'. The marathon took place on Sunday 07th August and Charles crossed the line victorious. Before the marathon Charles said -

Running a marathon without trainers might make 7th August that little bit harder. Surviving without a home makes everything a lot harder. All support for the Gloucestershire Homes for Veterans makes a direct difference to those ex-servicemen in need. I will be running in Vibram Five Fingers, pictured, which have soles 5mm thick. Sane folk recommend the transition to long-distance "barefoot" running is made over an 18 month period; I am attempting it after 10 weeks.

 After the event -

The course was stunning and the level of support exceptional. I finished in ugly, ungainly fashion but I was satisfied when I consider that I was unable to run more than 2 miles at a time in June!

Completing the run Charles raised awareness and valuable funds for our Gloucestershire Homes for Veterans.  To read more about his story click here. Help him reach his target by donating today.
