Home Search For Young Mothers

Calling all landlords! The Charity Alabaré Christian Care and Support is searching for a rental property to enable their teams to house and support young homeless mums in the Test Valley.  It has been successfully running a similar home in Salisbury since 2007.

Alabaré’s need is simple - they require an unfurnished 3+ bedroomed property on a long-lease in the Andover area, in a location with good transport links.  In return it will be furnished to a high standard and have staff available in the home and on-call.

Once established the Mother and Baby Home will provide accommodation to young mums who are either pregnant or with their babies, in a supportive and safe environment, enabling them to grow in confidence and skills,  and develop so that they are able to move on to successful independent lives.

Vanessa Bedford, Care and Support Manager for Young People at the Charity said

“We’ve been given the green light from Hampshire Council to provide this Service and now we need to find appropriate properties, with a buoyant rental market in the Andover area we are hopeful of securing something very soon so that we can begin our support to help these vulnerable  young women in the County”.

Mothers can stay with Alabaré for up to two years after which they can be offered the opportunity to move into in a ‘Move On’ Home. Here lower levels of support are offered and increased responsibility encouraged.  Alabaré is also looking for suitable 1 and 2 bedroomed flats to rent in Andover so that they can provide this pathway to independence in the same area.

If you feel you have  properties that fit the bill or you know of any becoming available soon please call in the first instance Vanessa Bedford on  07879 621588.
