Extended Support For Care Leavers

We're delighted to announce that we have been successful in winning a new contract from Wiltshire Council to provide 10 bed spaces of accommodation for young people aged between 16 and 17 who are leaving care. This new tender will replace the current provision in Wiltshire. The new contract will begin in October 2014.

We currently provide 6 beds for care leavers at Towpath House in Trowbridge. Once the new contract begins, we will provide the 10 beds across multiple houses, widening the support we are able to provide throughout Wiltshire.

Our experienced staff will support our young residents to acquire the skills they need to transition into an independent life within their own accommodation. We will offer them support with; self care skills, sustaining their tenancy, community integration, education and training engagement, and finding work.

Vanessa Brown, is our Care and Support Manager for Children & Young People, and had this to say about the new contract;

“This is an exciting opportunity for our Young People’s team and we are delighted with this opportunity to expanding our area of support for young care leavers in Wiltshire. We can’t wait to get started later this year.”
