Cycle For Veterans

A huge thank you to the team from the Defence Academy at Shrivenham who will be taking on an epic fundraising challenge on behalf of our Homes for Veterans service. On the week commencing the 16th July, they will be embarking on a 450km cycle ride from Shrivenham to Normandy and back over the course of four days. The team will comprise of 44 cyclists, supported by a further seven support staff in three vehicles.

During the trip they will be visiting a number of the D-Day landing sites including the beaches of Gold, Sword, Juno, Omaha and Utah.

Ben Perkins-Brown, who has co-ordinated the challenge said:

“Life in the Services offers so much, and has offered so much to me personally.  Sadly many veterans face challenges which cannot be shouldered alone and the support from Alabaré, and specifically Homes for Veterans, is inspirational. Whilst still serving I seek opportunities to support this worthy cause.  The 450km cycle is daunting, specifically leading some inexperienced cycles through the adventure, but the motivation to help the charity that helps so many is strong and will help us through.”
