Barnabas Celebrates 1st Anniversary

Barnabas celebrates 1st Anniversary

We marked the anniversary of the reopening of Barnabas House, on the 30th May with a dedication and blessing at the house.

To celebrate the blessing, residents of the home baked delicious cakes to share with the guests they had welcomed into their home. Our Senior Chaplain, Jonathan Martin led the dedication and blessing at the house, with the help of Barnabas' Chaplain Mo Willis. Sam, a previous resident at Barnabas House, who has now moved on to independent living, described her time at the house by saying;

“I gained so much living there. I was homeless before I moved in. I don’t know where I’d be without the staff support – they really looked after me.”

Originally opened on 11th June 1992, the home supports vulnerable women to make positive changes in their lives. They may be overcoming past mental or physical abuse, addiction or mental health issues. The home enjoyed a complete remodelling and make-over last year thanks to significant donations from the Trustees of The Sarsen Charitable Trust, supporter (and Secret Millionaire) Ms Roisin Isaacs, and a number of local businesses.
