Advent Week 4 - Peace
What should we do when we are anxious. Jesus tells us "the very hairs on your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid you are worth more than many sparrows." (Luke 12:6,7) How often does Jesus have to tell us not to be afraid? How often does he have to invite us to trust in him?
If we believe we are never forgotten by God, that his love is so intimate that he numbers the very hairs on our heads, then we know the deepest things we need are not elsewhere. Even in our greatest struggles we can find peace, a peace that is born out of a relationship of love. The more we share that peace with others around us the stronger our community becomes.
Advent is a time of waiting, waiting with expectant hearts. Forgiving those who have hurt us and asking forgiveness of those we have hurt or offended.
In this new relationship we can find peace. The word of God gives us clear guidance.
Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God , which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.(Philipians 4:6,7)
