A Trek Across The Lava Fields In Iceland For Alabaré
Meet Cath Toogood she is one of our fantastic fundraisers. Cath is self-funding a trek to the beautiful lava fields of Iceland and in the process raising vital funds for our charity.
The trek itself is a tough and a challenging one through a remote and wild environment. Cath’s training partner in the UK is Chaos, her 13 year old male Staffy. They have been undertaking a strict training schedule.
Cath says; “I leave the car at home and walk most places if possible. I go to Pilates every week and I’ve started swimming twice a week when time allows.”
When asked, Cath said she wanted to help Alabaré because; “My working life was spent helping more challenging people and I realised homelessness plays a large part in the bigger picture. Making a delivery of clothes one day to Alabaré’s head office, Riverside House I saw a leaflet about Homes for Veterans. I feel very strongly that we should support those who fall on hard times. I have always wanted to trek in Iceland, it's been on my "to do" list for a while so I thought while hopefully having some fun why not help somebody. The idea was born.”
