For just 50p a day, you will be helping to provide not just a room at Alabaré but also support and training to help break the cycle of homelessness.
Your gift can mean someone can rebuild their life, find employment and move on to live independently once more.
You can choose to if you would like to sponsor a room within our veterans, homeless adults, young people, or young parents and their babies services. You will be joining our caring community of room sponsors who come together to create a lifeline.
Homeless adults
1313 homeless people died in 2022 in England and Wales*
Relationship breakdowns, loss of employment and ill health are all common reasons why someone can become homeless, but there are many others. Homelessness can affect anyone.
Sponsoring a room in Alabaré Homeless services means you will be helping someone who is at their most vulnerable rebuild their life. Your support will help provide accommodation and also provide access to training and advice so someone who is homeless can look forward to a fulfilling, independent life once more.
Young people
129,000 young people (16-24 yrs) presented to their local authority as homeless or at risk of homelessness between April 2021 and March 2022.*
Alabaré’s homes and services help hundreds of young homeless people every year.
By sponsoring a room in our Alabaré Young People Service you can give someone who is just starting out in life, a safe home and a bright future. Your support will enable them to access training courses which will help them gain the skills needed to be able to move on into independent living.
Parent & Baby
Some 120,710 children in England were homeless and living in temporary accommodation between April and June 2022, government figures show.*
By sponsoring a room in our Alabaré Parent and Baby homes you will be helping provide a warm and safe environment in which young parents can take care of their child and learn the skills needed to provide a life for their new family which includes the skills to successfully manage their next tenancy while looking after their growing child.
Homes for veterans
Estimates indicate between 100 and 400 veterans sleep rough every year. A further 3,000 to 4,000 face homelessness in cars or derelict buildings.*
By sponsoring a room in our Alabaré Homes for Veterans Service you can provide a safe environment for British ex-service personnel to call home. As many suffer from issues such as; depression, PTSD, ill health, unemployment or relationship breakdown, your support enables them to access support to regain their confidence and live an independent future.
Frequently asked questions
You will initially receive a welcome pack for your chosen service, which provides more information about how your gift is making a difference and a poster that you can proudly display somewhere, should you wish. We will also update you regularly on how your support is changing the lives of homeless people in our care.
We don’t open the doors to our services to visitors because our first priority is to protect our clients, and we respect the fact that it is their home. But we do invite supporters to events where you can hear our clients and staff talk about the difference your support makes. Sponsor a room is a £16 a month regular donation to one of Alabaré’s services. Your £16 a month sponsorship helps fund the support given to homeless and vulnerable people in our care in order for them to gain independence and gain employment and move into their own accommodation.
Your money could be used to fund a variety of different things including; training (such as budgeting and finance courses), life essentials (such as toiletries and bedding) or support costs (the support Alabaré staff provide to our service users).
The total cost of providing a room, support and training to those in our care is much more than £16 a month which is why we need a community of valued supporters working together to support those in need. We ask for £16 a month as this will really make a huge difference to the people in our homes.
Yes. By sponsoring a room you are helping real homeless people who are living within the Alabaré service of your choice. As a care provider, we need to protect identities by changing names and sometimes by using models. However all their stories are genuine.
Your monthly gifts aren’t limited to an individual room. Your gift will be restricted to providing support in the Alabaré service of your choice. For example, if you sponsor a Parent & Baby room – your gift will be used to provide support to parents and babies in our care exclusively.
On average, our clients stay with us for between eight months and two years. We aim to ensure homeless people move on into independent accommodation within two years, which then allows someone else in need to take their place.
You can cancel your standing order at any time of your choice. If your circumstances change and you can no longer continue as a Room Sponsor, we would be grateful if you could call our supporter care team on 01722 344484 to let us know. And don’t worry; there are other ways to support us to help homeless people. Likewise, you can reinstate your Room Sponsorship at any time.

I had a spell as a teenager that was frightening and desperate. I had nowhere to live and was a breath away from being on the streets. Although not destitute, I was in need of help. The opportunity to be in a safe place with support, valuable advice and being able to access education is invaluable. It is a privilege now to be in a position where I can help others.
