Petals for Peace

Petals for Peace Banner Alabare Homes for Veterans

We invite you to join us in a community celebration of flowers and personal messages of thanks to those who have given so much to ensure our peace and freedom.

This May we will celebrate 75 years since the guns fell silent at the end of war in Europe.

Please join us in marking this momentous anniversary by helping to create a collaborative tribute of personal messages of peace and thanks, written within folded, paper flowers. Your finished displays will create a beautiful focal point for your community VE Day 75 celebrations.

All donations received from Petals for Peace will help fund Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans, our charity’s homes and specialist support for ex-Forces personnel who are homeless or living in crisis today. By supporting Petals for Peace, you will be helping those who have given so much, regain their health, independence and build themselves a new future.

Part of a group who would like to be involved...

We are linking up with schools, churches and community groups to create displays of Petals for Peace made up from individual flowers made by their community members and containing messages of peace, thanks and celebration during the run up to VE 75 Day (8-10th May). If you are part of a group and would like to do something creative, that has the potential to change the lives of vulnerable people today, then Petals for Peace is perfect for you! Please email us at  or call us on 01722 322882 to request your resource pack today.

Our resource packs will contain all the information you need to do this including flower templates, instructions and ideas for how you may wish to display your flowers.  Your displays could be as creative or simple as you wish - all will be beautiful and particularly meaningful. You might want to hold a special church service, assembly or group meeting to celebrate the anniversary and make your Petals for Peace a wonderful focal point.  We hope you will hold a simple collection as part of your celebrations for our Alabaré Homes for Veterans - by which you will be helping to provide life saving support to Veterans today you are homeless or living in crisis.

Thinking of getting involved yourself....

If you would prefer to make your own Petal for Peace, and would like to have it placed in our central display, we would love you to return it to us at Alabaré and we will include it in our celebratory display in St Thomas's Church in Salisbury, which will be open to visit during VE 75 Day weekend (8-10th May).

So please save a space in your diary for Petals for Peace.

We have a range of resources coming soon to help you, your church, school or community group to join Petals for Peace.  If you would like us to come along to your talk to your group about Petals for Peace and how we are supporting homeless Veterans, we would be delighted to arrange this with you too.

We are working hard on the resources you will need now, and plan that these will be ready for you by 20th March, giving you plenty of time to set up some Petals activities with your group or church, or to create your own Petals for Peace and send them to us.

In the mean time please email us at or call us on 01722 322822 if you would like us to send resources to you once they are available, stating in your those resources you would like to receive.  Please also let us know if you would like us to visit your group as well.

We look forward to hearing from you!
