The Historic Huts of Antarctica - Online Talk

The Historic Huts of Antarctica - Online Talk

01 Dec 2021

Hampshire ambassador Charles Ackroyd ticked off one item on his bucket list and sailed to the Ross Sea in January 2020. In the company of his brother, a Canadian rancher and a TA friend, David Sneath, they sailed from Bluff on the southernmost tip of New Zealand. On a former Russian research ship, they reached the historic huts of Scott and Shackleton at the foot of Mount Erebus to explore the coastline and the history of this emotive destination.

The richly illustrated talk, given by David Sneath who accompanied Charles, will focus on the huts, the history of Shackleton and Scott, and the immediate surroundings.
