Who we help

It is estimated that there are around 220,000 Veterans in Wales. Every year around 20,000 personnel leave the Armed Forces in the UK.

Wales Homes for Veterans is our programme of support and accommodation to help those ex-Armed Forces personnel who have fallen on hard times, and who now need some short term support to recapture their self-esteem and equip themselves with the skills needed to manage independently again as fully participating members of the community.

How we help

In the course of our 23 years supporting homeless and vulnerable adults, we found that we were supporting an increasing number of Veterans within our homes. By working with, and listening to them, we recognised the benefit of dedicated homes where those who had served in the Armed Forces could live together.  This approach has been proven successful as residents have welcomed the opportunity to support each other together through their problems, in a spirit of togetherness and a shared understanding which stems from their Service lives. Planned locations

Planned locations

Our plan is to open homes in three areas; South East Wales; South West Wales; North Wales. These locations have been selected in consultation with the RBL, local statutory and support service providers and charities.  In total, 72 bed spaces will be created within fifteen separate houses.

In order to help our Veterans reintegrate into civilian society, it is essential that all of our homes are placed in residential communities. We look for areas that have excellent access to local services which are essential to the process of re-introducing ex-Servicemen and women back into society.
