If you are part of a school, church or community group let’s explore how we can link up!

Alabare Quiz Night at Chaffyn Grove School

Our charity was born out of the generosity of people in our local community who believe in making a difference.

Alabaré is delighted to receive support from the local communities where we operate. Whether you are a member of a church, school, or community group such as Scouts or Guides, Mothers’ Union, or Men’s Breakfast Club, we would love to explore how we can work together!

Raising awareness of homelessness, poor mental health and vulnerability is critical.  We need people, young and old, from all backgrounds to understand some of the causes of homelessness and help us break down some of the misconceptions that others harbour.  We also rely on the donations raised and gifts in kind given by community groups, schools and churches that help keep our services open.  Please do get in touch with us today to talk about how we can support each other.

Alabaré is a great charity for helping people. People shouldn’t be homeless. Everyone should have the opportunity to have a home.

Church engagement

Churches

Our partnership with churches, through prayer, donations and volunteering, is as vital today as when the charity was founded in 1991. Our vision is based on John 10:10, ‘I have come that you may have life and have it to the full’, and you can read our Founding Story here.

Ways we can support you:

  • We welcome invitations to speak to your congregation or home group
  • You can find resources, including suggestions for hymns, prayers and sermon materials, here
  • We can offer advice on how to help vulnerable or homeless people in your parishes
  • We can send you information about homelessness and the work of Alabaré

  • Workshops – with smaller groups, help students explore the issues of homelessness, what it might be like and how they might respond
  • Assist – with input into days set aside to be off-timetable

Community Groups

If you are a leader or member of a community group, please get in touch! We regularly speak to community groups about the issues surrounding homelessness, and what Alabaré does to support those who are homeless and vulnerable in our local communities.

  • Attend groups such as WIs, Wives groups, Men’s Breakfast Clubs and other groups large and small, in homes or in community halls to speak about homelessness, bringing displays and extra information if helpful
  • Support children’s groups such as Scouts, Guides, Cubs and Brownies as you work towards activity and engagement badges
  • Attend events raising funds for Alabaré, providing prizes and other gifts if appropriate
  • Attend events and activities which will raise the profile of Alabaré in our local communities

Ways you can support us:

Our history

Alabaré was founded out of the simple act of providing a place of shelter to one homeless man, Bob. Today, it remains our goal to help those in vulnerable situations build bright futures, homes and minds for themselves.
