Press Release

New contract raises profile of Alabaré

Alabaré is raising its profile when it comes to tackling homelessness in Bristol, thanks to a major new contract.

The Salisbury-based charity has won the contract to pilot the role of a T.R.E.E. Co-ordinator – a person who will be responsible for the co-ordination of training, recreation, education and employment for single homeless people living in Bristol.

The service has been commissioned by Bristol City Council and is funded by Supporting People.

The Co-ordinator will be based in the Compass Centre, Bristol’s new homelessness assessment centre, and will offer support to anyone accessing the facility. They will provide service users with information and advice in a wide range of areas and will also work alongside other statutory and voluntary organisations, community groups, colleges and businesses.

Alabaré has recently recruited the right person for the pilot of this role, which will run for one year from December 07.  It is hoped that during this time the T.R.E.E. Co-ordinator post will be so successful it will become permanent.

Rachel Wetton, Alabaré’s Operational Manager for Bristol, said “Being awarded the contract to provide the T.R.E.E. Co-ordinator at the Compass Centre is an amazing achievement for Alabaré and really puts us up there with the bigger organisations operating in Bristol.”

She added “Winning this contract is great testament to the hard work being carried out at all of the projects we run, not only in Bristol but across the whole of the South West.”
