Mission: To provide supported accommodation to men who have completed six months at Lazarus House enabling them to move successfully on to independent living.
Demand for places at Lazarus House was high and we were turning away more men than we were helping, so in 2006 we opened Thomas House and Shalom House. Both houses are large Victorian houses offering a lower level of support to a total of ten men who have just completed six months at Lazarus House (or a similar project). Each service user can continue to work with their allocated key worker on their journey towards independent living.
By moving service users on to Thomas and Shalom, more space becomes free at Lazarus meaning we can help even more ex-offenders break free from the cycle of crime, prison and homelessness.
Outcomes for clients:
- Continuing to address their offending behaviour and move towards independent living
- Continuing to address drug and alcohol issues
- Improved daily living skills
- Continuing to address issues from the past/childhood
- Increased awareness of their physical and mental wellbeing
