Supporting Individuals: Alabaré's Supported Employment Service supports service users in accessing employment opportunities. We work closely with individuals so they can make informed choices about their future employment or volunteering opportunities. The people we work with do lots of different kinds of work; paid work full time or part time, unpaid voluntary or work experience. We also offer support with accessing training courses, arranging appropriate transport helping them get the job they want. Our service enablesservice users to identify their strengths, transferable skills and abilities. We match what their skills to real jobs in the community.
Supporting Employers: We also work with employers to help them understand the ways in which they can support the needs of employees with a learning disability and enable each person to fulfil their employment potential.
What our Service Provides:
- Helping people identify their skills and preferences for work through the development of a Vocational Profile.
- Job Development to find the person's preferred job through contact with employers and participation in work experience.
- Job Analysis to find out more about the work-place, co-workers and the support an individual may need in the employment environment.
- Job Support to ensure that the employee and employer receive and appropriate amount of assistance, information and a back-up to achieve success for up to six months after the job begins. Where long term support is needed we will with individuals, employers, care managers and those that support individuals outside of the work place to identify additional enabling provision.
- Job Monitoring to provide planned support and advice visits in the first year of employment or volunteering.
- Career Support to enable progression and career development or support if there are problems in the work place.
Winchester and Andover Supported Employment Service works in partnership with Hampshire County Council.
