Sky's the limit for daredevil Pat
30th April 2007
One member of staff from Alabaré Christian Care Centres is showing that sky’s the limit when it comes to what she’ll do for her job!
Pat Harrison, Manager of Alabare’s Bristol projects, is to do a sponsored sky dive with the Red Devils at South Cerney air base on Wednesday 25th July.
She’ll be jumping out of a plane at 13000 feet attached to 4 Red Devils. The money raised through sponsorship will go to Lazarus House, one of the projects she runs.
Lazarus House, which opened in 2003, offers Supported Housing to single male ex-offenders who are making the transition from prison life to life in the community. Lazarus House provides a safe and secure home and offers a planned programme of support and practical assistance tailored to the needs of each resident. Support plans can include life skills, relapse prevention, and education and employment training.
Pat also manages Thomas and Shalom Houses, which opened just last year to operate alongside Lazarus as move-on accommodation and offer a lower level of support. She also manages The Well, a supported housing project for vulnerable women.
It’s not the first time Pat’s leapt from a plane for Alabaré, she took part in another sponsored sky dive last year.
Pat said “Last year I jumped with one Red Devil, so this year I thought I’d go one better, or should I say three better, and attach myself to 4!”
“I’m not nervous at all, just really looking forward to it. It’s the most amazing feeling.”
She added “The money raised is going to a really worthy cause; Lazarus House plays a vital role in helping ex-prisoners build a future for themselves. Without our support many of these men would probably end up back in prison.”
If you want to sponsor Pat call Alabaré Christian Care Centres on 08450 78 68 08.
