New programme tells local residents 'It's Your Move'!
30th March 2007
On Friday 23rd March nine local residents collected certificates for completing the It’s Your Move tenancy training programme being piloted by Salisbury based charity Alabaré Christian Care Centres. The course is aimed at vulnerable people, teaching them the skills they need to obtain and maintain their tenancies and live independently within the community.
The series of 20 modules covered in the It’s Your Move programme include communicating, dealing with rent, welfare benefits, managing on a low income, healthy eating and safety and security.
As well as hosting the presentation, Friday’s event also included a seminar on the beneficial outcomes of the It’s Your Move programme. Those attending included other local agencies and the Wiltshire Supporting People Team.
Alabaré are extremely grateful to Wessex Water for funding the purchase of the It’s Your Move programme. The course will continue to be available to Alabaré’s service users, and the charity is seeking funding to expand the project and widen it’s availability to other groups.
