Local charity celebrates NPTC success
26th January 2007
Staff and clients at Barford Countryside Unit in Barford St Martin are celebrating after maintaining high standards in their second review by the National Proficiency Test Council (NPTC). Accredited courses in subjects such as Woodwork, Pottery, Horticulture, IT, Cookery and Recycling have been running at the centre since 2004 and are aimed at local vulnerable adults. Having received an excellent all round report in their first assessment in 2006, the whole team were keen to keep up their excellent record.
NPTC External Verifier Bee Esdaile visited on the 16th January described the Barford Countryside Unit as, “A well resourced, well run centre, demonstrating good practice all around. Well done!”
The centre, run by Alabaré Christian Care Centres, aims to help homeless and vulnerable adults gain qualifications and offers advice and support in finding future employment. Training can also help to alleviate the isolation resulting from social exclusion and poverty.
