Training available to help people keep their homes
15th March 2007
Vulnerable adults in the Salisbury area will soon be able to benefit from a new Tenancy Training Programme currently being piloted by local charity Alabaré Christian Care Centres. The programme, called It’s Your Move, aims to teach people the skills they need to maintain their tenancies and live independently within the community.
The series of 20 modules cover different topics including communicating, dealing with rent, welfare benefits, managing on a low income, healthy eating and safety and security.
A pilot programme of 7 sessions has been running in Salisbury and comes to an end on March 23rd with a seminar including a presentation of certificates to those who have taken part. The event will be attended by other local agencies and the Wiltshire Supporting People Team.
Alabaré are extremely grateful to Wessex Water for funding the purchase of the It’s Your Move programme. Initially available to their own service users, Alabaré are seeking funding to expand the project and widen it’s availability to other groups.
If you would like more information about the It’s Your Move programme, please contact the Alabaré Community 4 Team on 01722 742191.
