New manager for charity's Drop In Centres
5th January 2007

Three Wiltshire Drop In Centres for homeless and vulnerable adults run by Alabaré Christian Care Centres have recently appointed a new manager, Doreen Knight. Doreen, who had previously been responsible for the running of Alabaré’s Salisbury Drop In, is now overseeing the Devizes and Trowbridge branches as well.
The centres support around 700 people each year and in many cases provide the main lifeline for vulnerable individuals. Each centre provides hot food and drinks, washing facilities and clothing. Importantly, each also gives access to other support services where individuals can get help with housing and health problems.
Doreen said “Day time shelter for the street homeless is vital. A few hours warmth and safety eases night time dangers.”
Alabaré is currently running its 3 in 1000 appeal to raise sustainable funds for its Drop In Centres across the county. They are asking 3 in every 1000 adults living in Wiltshire to pledge £5 per month towards the running of the Drop Ins. The amount raised would secure at least half the costs of the centres each year – a huge step forward in securing their futures.
More information about the 3 in 1000 appeal and the Alabaré Drop In Centres can be found at www.alabare.co.uk or by calling 08450 78 68 08.
