C4 successfully floats into its second year
4th July 2007
Community 4 (C4) has celebrated its first Birthday.
C4 is a consortium of four organisations, made up of Alabaré Christian Care Centres, Splitz Support Service, Westlea Housing Association and the Drugs and Homeless Initiative. In July 2006 they won the 4 contracts with Wiltshire County Council to provide housing-related Floating Support to the whole of Wiltshire for at least the next four years.
The majority of their work is to support people when taking up a new home and help them manage their tenancies. It could be helping individuals understand their housing rights and responsibilities or signposting them to other services or activities within the community.
Over the last 12 months the Salisbury branch alone dealt with 449 people, 271 of which were men and 178 were women. 264 cases have been finished and closed, with 92 clients recorded as having their needs met.
The majority of referrals to the team came from the individuals themselves and from voluntary organisations. Others substantial numbers came from Salisbury District Council’s Housing Team, GPs and Social Services. The Wiltshire Drop In Centres also referred some 15 of their clients to C4 for help.
Mel Greenstock, C4 Manager in Salisbury, said “I cannot believe it is our first birthday already, it seems like only yesterday we were celebrating winning the contract! It has been a really successful first year and we are all looking forward to many more to come.”
