WWI Presentation Evening
Thank you to our Wiltshire Ambassadors for hosting last night's WWI presentation evening at Riverside House. This year marks 100 years since the beginning of World War One and the evening was organised to honour the the memory of those who gave so much during the war, in support of our country.
Historian, Elizabeth Hutchinson spoke at the event, and travelled from France to deliver her fantastic lecture on the Western Front. The presentation also included recitals of WWI poetry, including those by Wilfred Own. Guests at the event also enjoyed the historical displays and information from the Royal British Legion Wilton Branch, Wiltshire Cadets and the Florence Nightingale Foundation.
One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the High Sheriff’s Commendation to our founder John Proctor. Congratulations to John for the desrved award for his many years of outstanding voluntary service to the community!
It was a fantastic event, which has raised over £1200 for our veterans services. We look forward to hosting many more at Riverside House in the future!
