Support The Homeless This Christmas
Local Charity, Alabaré, Calls On The People Of the South West and Wales To Help Support The Homeless This Christmas
Local charity, Alabaré, today launched its Christmas Appeal, asking the people of the South West of England and Wales to help Light Up Lives this Christmas and support their community’s most vulnerable during the festive season.
This year’s campaign focuses on those who find themselves alone or homeless at Christmas, a time when most of us will be sharing laughter and cheer with our family and friends; for some, the reality is a far cry from this.
Andrew Lord, Chief Executive of Alabaré comments,
“At Alabaré, our specialist support staff and volunteers work with the homeless, young people, Service Veterans and others who are in crisis, 365 days a year but as the cold weather starts to bite we notice a significant spike in the need for our services.
We operate over 380 bed spaces for the homeless and vulnerable in the South West and Wales, providing a roof over their head, a bed to sleep in, and the essentials they need to take the first step on their journey to recovery and independence. But this life saving work cannot continue without the people of the South West and Wales’ generous support and donations.”
Janet Herring, Care & Support Manager at Alabaré, takes up the story,
“Our service users often have a long road ahead of them before they are independent again and we need to be there supporting them on that journey now and into the future. By pledging your support this Christmas you too could help change a life forever.”
There are a number of ways to support Alabare during the Festive season including:
- Give a kitbag - Many people come into our Homes with few or no belongings, and we can provide them with a kitbag with the essentials they need to get them started on their new life. A donation of just £25 will provide a kitbag containing a backpack, bedding set, towel, T Shirt, flip flops, toothbrush and toothpaste, comb, soap, shampoo and razor.
