Welcome to our March edition! This month we have an article from Pierre Cornlouer our South East Wales Chaplain, who considers what it means to be a good Samaritan.....

Being a good Samaritan

by Pierre Cornlouer, Alabaré Chaplain South East Wales

How often have we seen something and walked on by just like the priest, in the parable that Jesus told of the Good Samaritan on the Road to Damascus?  I am sure that some time in our lives we all have. We don’t stop as we may be frightened of what might happen to us.   As a serving member of the armed forces I came across some very hostile and sad things that needed my help.

Quite often I thought of the story Jesus told his disciples, about the injured man on the road to Damascus. I think that when you stop in the street and help someone, or even stop at the scene of a car accident, you are doing what Jesus asked of you and what the Good Samaritan demonstrated all those years ago. We don't ask to be thanked, but it's always great to hear what a difference we have made.  Here's what one ex-resident posted on Facebook recently...

I would like to give a big thanks to Nikki and Andy the staff at Alabaré's Home for Veterans in Plymouth I have been there since I came off of Dartmoor homeless and living in a tent, thanks to them I have just moved into a nice flat and the RBL have given me a lot of support Nikki and Andy are wonderful staff and my stay was amazing, a big thank you to Alabaré if it was not for you I would be homeless, in prison or dead thank you from the bottom of my heart.
