Local Artist, Simon Young, Supports Veterans
National award winning local artist Simon Young will be opening his studio in Saltash from Saturday 29 August to Sunday 6 September as part of Drawn to The Valley’s Open Studios event.
As a former serviceman, he will be donating proceeds of studio sales to Plymouth Home for Veterans, an initiative supporting homeless and vulnerable Armed Forces Veterans, run by the charity Alabaré.
I’m an Ambassador for Alabaré in Plymouth and I’m constantly amazed by the work this Charity does for Veterans who’ve fallen on hard times. Our Plymouth home provides supported living accommodation and a secure environment, a firm base if you like, in which to live. This allows Veterans the opportunity to regain confidence/self-esteem and find employment, or training opportunities, to re-establish themselves in society.
Simon is an award winner for this year’s The Artist and Leisure Painter magazines 2015 Patchings Open Art competition in Nottingham. The successful painting of a local Tamar scene called Coombe Creek Morning looks across the Tamar towards Devonport. He currently has 4 watercolours on show at the Mall Galleries, London.
