ITV News have interviewed Mark, a service user in our Wales Homes for Veterans.
Mark is a former Weapons Electrical Engineer in The Royal Navy. After a glittering career in our Armed Forces, Mark moved to America where he worked as a lecturer, specialising in IT. Upon moving back to England Mark suffered badly in a road accident, this meant he fell behind with his rent on his flat in Rhyl.
Very soon Mark was forced to move out and spent two years living on a beach in Prestatyn in a tent. In very bad weather he would take shelter in a nearby Church. Mark recieved support from the Church and ended up sleeping for four months at the Ty-Golau Night Shelter. The Change Step charity then heard about Mark and referred him to Homes for Veterans. Within days Mark had met with our North Wales Veterans Team Leader David Oliver and gained a place in our Conwy Home.
This Veterans incredible journey is evidence that homelessness can happen to anyone. Here at Alabaré, we take pride in our Homes and Services that provide vital support to the most vulnerable people in our communities.

Funding for this Home in North Wales came from the LIBOR fund - this is money which the Government levied in fines against bankers when found they were manipulating rates.
