Inspire Awards: December

Here are our December Inspire Award Winners. Well done everyone;

Debbie Reeves, North Wilts Young People: Debbie has not been with Alabaré long, but is already well known for her creativity and out of the box thinking. She has really engaged with the young people at Calne House, and has achieved some fantastic results with the young people from her introduction of cooking sessions with the residents.

Debbie Brittain, Mother and Baby: Debbie has been integral in the renovation of the M&B garden. Despite an initial budget of £200 being needed to restore the garden, through hard work, research and a few kind words Debbie has been able to source everything needed to get the garden in shape for just a quarter of the cost.

John, Barnard’s Cross House/Exeter Street: John had been sleeping rough; living in the woods in a tent. He realised though that as he was becoming older, he couldn’t cope anymore and was accepted into Alabaré Place. John has adapted well and has been focussed in dealing with his difficulties. He has accessed specialist support and is building trust and positive relationships with his Key Workers and the other staff in Alabaré Place. He recently got involved in the WASP football team and was part of the team that won the tournament in early 2013. John’s greatest triumph and greatest contribution has been the garden: he found solace and calm and has worked really hard, virtually every day for 18 months.

Matt and Jim, Move On Service: Matt and Jim have worked hard on the front and rear garden of their move on home. They have also both recently volunteered to renovate the pond and tidy the garden at Barnabas House. All the work they have done has been with great enthusiasm and good cheer.

Mike Cole, Havencourt: Mike takes all of the young men at Haven Court to boxing twice a week, whether he is working or not, giving up at least 4 hours of his own time every week to ensure the young people there get consistent support around this extra activity.
