Rachael Hopwood, Alabaré Place Drop in Facilitator saw an opportunity and went for it when she spotted Pret a Manger were opening in Salisbury! She made an approach and they have agreed that Alabaré Place can receive their surplus food twice a week. Rachael and Nikki Vigor, Manager of Alabaré Place have been invited to the opening of the Café on 4 September. Thank you Pret, we are very grateful, our Drop-in Centre users are going to love it!
National award winning artist Simon Young…
…will be opening his studio in Saltash, Cornwall from 29 August to 6 September as part of the Drawn to The Valley Open Studios Event. As a former serviceman and now an Alabaré Ambassador, Simon will be donating a percentage of the proceeds of studio sales to our Plymouth Home for Veterans. Simon will be on hand in his Studio at 7 Coombe Road, Saltash, PL12 4ER daily from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm, to talk about watercolour painting and how it has helped him through his career in the Armed Forces, please pay him a visit if you are able.
Alabaré has recently bestowed Inspire Awards on the following individuals:-
Ray Forbes – Salisbury Veteran who helped his fellow residents through tricky times following the death of Peter, a member of the Alabaré Family.
Tony Moore – a volunteer befriender at our Homes for Veterans in Hants. Tony throws himself into everything for the team in Hampshire; he works tirelessly supporting our Veterans as well as never missing an opportunity to spread the word about Alabaré to the wider community.
Simon South – A client of Alabaré Place since July '13, has successfully moved onto his own accommodation, he displayed a superb attitude and grabbed every chance to get himself back on track - an inspiration to all other residents.
Discover Adventure and raise funds for Alabaré
Calling all adventurers! If you would like to take on a fundraising challenge with a difference as well as getting to see a bit of the world... look no further. Alabaré have teamed up with Discover Adventure to offer you a selection of challenges to take part in. Once signed up and deposit paid you pledge to raise the stated fundraising target, 50% of which come to Alabaré, 50% pays for your place on the trip. It is a tried and tested format that ends in a win win situation - we can help more clients in need of our support, you take place in an adventure of a life time!
