Community 4 To Close
We have heard this week that Wiltshire Council have decided that the floating support service run by Community4 – a consortium made up of Alabaré, GreenSquare, Splitz Support Service, and Developing Health & Independence (DHI)- is to come to an end on 31 March 2015.
The Council has emphasised that its decision is simply a financial one – unfortunately, they have insufficient funds to support the service any longer.
Community 4, which has been run by the four organisations including Alabaré for the past nine years, supports people to live independently in a home they have chosen and aims to prevent housing crisis or homelessness.
Andrew Lord, our Alabaré CEO, said: “For the past nine years, Community4 has provided housing related one-to-one support for many hundreds of people throughout Wiltshire. The huge strength of the team has been their ability to advise and support people encountering many different types of problems, perhaps the most fundamental of which would be those people who have been helped to avoid the devastation of homelessness.”
“We are very disappointed that this valuable service is coming to an end. Its closure is in no way a reflection on the effectiveness of the service, but is simply due to lack of funding. We, and the others who run Community4, will be working closely with the Council to make sure we help existing clients as much as we can while the service is still running.”
