For 25 years Alabaré has been providing housing and support to homeless people, reaching out to those who for whatever reason, have been left destitute and homeless. This is under threat and charities and supported housing providers have real concern to whether they will be able to continue to provide housing and services. The Government is proposing to cap housing benefit for supported housing tenants at the same rate as the Local Housing Allowance. This gap fails to recognise the additional cost of providing supported housing to vulnerable people. Show your support by following us on our social media outlets and get involved by signing up to The Housing Federation's Starts at Home Campaign. Read more about our campaign #Homes not Streets.
"I’ve settled in at Andrew House well and feel I made a good decision to come here. The community have been very understanding and found that the people I’ve met have all been great. Voluntary work is probably my best achievement as I have struggled to engage with others in the past. Not only have I completed ‘Smart Training’, I have also noticed doors opening and people seeing the potential in me. My self esteem has massively improved with the voluntary positions alone. I attend meetings throughout the week which also provides good, healthy and ongoing relationships.
I trust that I can continue to grow and reach the goals both I and my family deserve."
Thank you to our Alabaré team at Andrew House Clevedon who work hard supporting residents to turn their lives around and gain the confidence they need to become a part of their local community.
Old Sarum Development Centre
As part of the Lloyds Bank 'Make a Difference Day', our Old Sarum Development Centre recently had a visit from a lovely group of volunteers from Lloyds Bank. Community volunteering is offered by Lloyds Banking Group allowing colleagues to take at least one day out of their normal routine to spend time in their local community to make a difference. The ladies who came to volunteer at Old Sarum did a fantastic job of painting our front gates. We would like to say a huge thank you to them.
