Appeal - Landlords Needed!
We are looking for private landlords in Wiltshire who would welcome young people moving out of their supported accommodation into their properties. These young people have a proven track record of maintaining their tenancies with us.
Prior to leaving our services, all of our young residents and service users complete our Home & Money tenancy programme. They will leave prepared for all of the tasks they will need to undertake in their future tenancies, including; budgeting, cleaning, shopping, and cooking.
It is estimated that each year at least 80,000 young people across the UK experience some form of homelessness, this is unacceptable. We want to see an end to this, and support young people aged between 16 and 25, who are homeless, facing homelessness, are care leavers, young mums, or are just in need of advice across their range of homes and information and advice services. We currently support young people across six properties in Wiltshire. You can find out more about them here.
Vanessa Brown, our Care and Support Manager for Young People said;
“We understand that landlords are often unwilling to rent to young people, especially if they have come from tough beginnings, but we have a proven track record with private landlords and despite the age of our service users, we do not anticipate any issues with their tenancies. We provide them with full support to move-on and will liaise with their new landlord to facilitate a smooth transition into independence.”
We are also looking for landlords who will rent out properties for use as fully supported accommodation. These properties would be staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
