Press Release
Two new Move On houses for Salisbury
Alabaré will now be able to reach out to even more homeless and vulnerable adults thanks to the opening of two new Move On properties in Salisbury.
The two houses will become a home for three men and three women who are ready to move on from other Alabaré projects.
Move On properties provide accommodation for people who are making the transition from supported housing to independent living. Service users still receive support from a key worker and continue to develop the skills and confidence needed to live completely independently.
Being able to move service users on to lower-level supported accommodation when they’re ready means that we can free up more space at our projects for those who need 24-hour support.
The two new houses underwent a lot of refurbishment over the festive period and have been decorated and kitted out with donated furniture. Thanks to the hard work of Manager Sue Gumbleton and Alabaré’s Resettlement worker Hannah Nash the two houses now look like homes.
Alabaré has opened three new Move on House in as many months; a new property was opened back in October 2007 and is now home to three ex-Damascus House residents.
The three houses have all been purchased with the help of a £300,000 capital grant from Salisbury District Council.
Alabaré Chief Executive Andrew Lord said “I am delighted that we have opened a further two Move On properties here in Salisbury. I would like to say a huge thank you to all involved for their hard work and commitment to turning these two houses into warm and welcoming homes.”
He added “I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Salisbury District Council, without their support the purchase of our three new properties would not have been possible.”
