Have a Knockout summer with Alabaré
Local charity Alabaré is on the lookout for teams to take on the wacky and the absurd in their next fundraising challenge – It’s A Knockout.
Alabaré will be holding an It’s a Knockout Competition at this year’s Salisbury Show. It’s being arranged in conjunction with local radio station Spire FM, which has named Alabaré as its Chosen Charity for 2008.
The Salisbury Show is held every year on Hudson’s Field and this year will be taking place on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July – the It’s A Knockout competition will be held on the Sunday.
Teams of up to 10 people (minimum age 16, or 15 with parental consent) are being asked to don their sports gear or fancy dress and get involved in this modern day version of the classic 70s TV show, which promises to offer all the usual fun and games. There’ll even be a cabaret and Karaoke!
We are hoping that teams will raise a minimum sponsorship of £1000, or as close to that as they can get.
The money raised through the It’s A Knockout competition will go towards Alabaré’s Salisbury Drop In Centre.
The Salisbury Drop In Centre, which is based in the Friary Community Centre in Carmelite Way, provides a warm and welcoming safe daytime shelter to homeless and vulnerable adults in the area. It opens its doors three days a week (11am – 3pm Mon, Fri and Sun) offering hot food and drink, showers, laundry facilities, a clothing exchange service and advice and guidance on issues like housing, employment and benefits.
For more information about the event or if you want to register a team for the competition call Yvonne Way on 08450 78 68 08.
